My Wish List
Bushings, found in pairs on trucks (4 total for 2 trucks), enable smooth, progressive turns. Without them, trucks would be just metal parts rubbing together, risking damage and lacking comfort. The compression and rebound of the bushings define the truck's performance.
Bushings are consumable parts. Depending on how often and how you use your board, they can wear out, losing their responsiveness or hardness.
The formula, shape, and hardness of the bushing are key factors that give the trucks, and therefore the board, a completely different feel.
The cone is designed for turns, with a wider base than the top of the bushing, limiting the compression of the bushing.
A classic shape, chosen for trucks that are highly responsive and turn easily, but less stable at high speeds.
A cone + cone combination is extremely turny and very responsive.
A cone + barrel combination provides a stable truck while still offering decent turning ability, and is often the default setup for some popular truck brands.
The barrel is the ultimate versatile shape. Its form limits compression, making it more stable and allowing it to return to its original position more quickly than the cone.
This results in a highly versatile bushing that is both stable and responsive.
Depending on the trucks, there can be a gap between the two bushings, an unused space on the hanger. Some brands offer a bushing with an extended inner ring that fills this gap.
This increases stability, as the bushing becomes harder to compress, now restricted by the truck's hanger.
These are the same shapes but larger. Some trucks, particularly those used in downhill longboarding, are compatible with "tall" sizes. Adding more material provides greater rebound and stability.
Trucks requiring tall bushings are identified on our website.
There are also other bushing shapes that offer different performance characteristics.
The keg, for example, is a barrel-shaped bushing designed to provide more resistance to compression and maximize rebound and return to its original shape.
The eliminator greatly restricts the truck's turning ability, focusing on maximizing stability.
The Fatcone is designed for those who seek maximum stability at high speeds while still maintaining excellent maneuverability.
The chubby offers both maneuverability and great stability, thanks to its upper side that fits well into the hangers. It can be used with lower hardness than usual.
SHR: Super High Rebound
Venom’s SHR is designed to make your trucks more responsive, with maximized rebound. In the transition between a right turn and a left turn, the bushing quickly returns to center before compressing on the other side.
HPF: High Performance Formula
The HPF offers more gradual compression without significant rebound, allowing for more precise and progressive turns.
APS / ANIMATED POLYMER SYSTEM
APS offers high rebound and more immediate energy return. It also provides great control and 10 to 15% more lean compared to the same durometer from other brands. This bushing has strong rebound and significant lean, making it very stable and forgiving.
WFB / WORLD FASTEST BUSHING
This formula contains a unique lubricant that doesn’t bind with the urethane, which is why you might often see a white residue on the surface. It reduces bushing friction for quick transitions and deeper lean than APS. WFB turns 15% to 20% more than the same durometer from other brands. WFB also offers less rebound than APS and is designed for riders who want a very smooth response.
KRANK
KranK is the highest rebound formula to date, designed specifically to change under the pressure of tightening. Its effective control range extends from very loose settings for the loosest feel to two full turns for the tightest feel. KranK will turn as much or less than the same durometer from other brands.
Nipples
Orangatang Nipples bushings are designed for high energy return and maximum lean. With their unique urethane formula, they offer an excellent combination of stability and responsiveness. Nipples bushings provide a smooth, controlled carve and are perfect for riders looking for deep turns without sacrificing precision. Available in different durometers, they cater to various riding styles, from carving and cruising to downhill racing.
Knuckles
Orangatang Knuckles bushings are built for extreme rebound and stability, making them ideal for fast riding and downhill skating. Their unique shape provides more resistance to compression, ensuring that the trucks remain stable at high speeds while still allowing for smooth turning transitions. Knuckles bushings come in multiple hardness levels, allowing riders to fine-tune their setup for the perfect balance of control and maneuverability.
The hardness of your bushings, along with their formula, will give you a completely different feel on your board. Generally, the harder the bushing, the more difficult it is to turn, and vice versa. It is indicated like wheels, with a number followed by an "a" (e.g., 80a, 86a, etc.).
“Woo, okay, I want to go super fast, so I’ll take the hardest bushings!!!?”
"No, a very hard bushing won’t help you go faster or prevent wobble—in fact, quite the opposite. However, a bushing that matches your weight with the right amount of tightening will allow you to progress more confidently at higher speeds."
